Plans Underway NUKO 2007 Summer Day Camp
A fun camp for children with neuro-developmental special needs
NUKO Summer Camp provides children with neuro-developmental disabilities between the ages of 7 and 16 who live in Nanaimo with an opportunity to experience day camp in a highly supported environment. Daily activities focus on teaching fundamental skills such as following routines, responding to group instructions, developing social interaction skills and community safety skills. In order to promote a successful experience for all, the program also takes into account each childs own sensory, communication and behavioural support needs.
This year marks our 3rd year of offering this unique and special camp. Each week of camp, the children are treated to swimming and daily field trips to beaches, lakes, parks and more.
Certified staff members provide increased opportunities for independence and the chance for children to develop friends, skills, and increased confidence in their abilities.
All are skills and opportunities that will benefit them for a lifetime.
